French Press Organic Coffee Brewing
This elegant and traditional method highlights coffee’s more full-bodied, deep nature.
MEASURE: Use scale to weigh coffee according to above chart. Start heating water on the stove or using an electric kettle. Use a few oz more than recipe suggests, you’ll need some to pre-heat the French press.
GRIND: Grind coffee fresh to a coarse consistency, similar to chunky coarse sea salt.
PRE-HEAT: Pour a few ounces of hot water into the French press and swirl to pre-heat. Discard and add ground coffee to the bottom of the French press.
BLOOM: Add enough hot water to cover the coffee and stir with a wooden spoon or chopstick, let sit for a few seconds (10-30) to bloom the coffee.
BREW: Add remaining water and stir again. Put lid on top but wait to plunge. Start timer for 3:30 or 4 minutes.
FINISH: Once time is us press the plunger down. Serve and enjoy!
We prefer bolder coffee in a French Press. Pretty much anything medium roast to dark roast.
