Behind the Cup: Freshness Starts Here
How We Protect Green Coffee Before It Ever Reaches the Roaster
When most people think about coffee freshness, they think about the date on the bag.
But freshness starts long before roasting.
Green coffee is an agricultural product, and once it has been harvested, the goal is to maintain its quality until it is ready to be roasted.
That is why we pay close attention when we purchase our coffees.
Coffee generally has one harvest each year, although there are exceptions. Colombia, for example, is a noteworthy exception with multiple harvest periods.
Because different origins are harvested at different times of the year, purchasing green coffee requires planning.

We time our purchases with harvest cycles in mind and work to obtain fresh crops. Once the coffee arrives, proper storage becomes equally important.
Our green coffee is stored using specialized bag liners designed to help retain freshness over time.
These liners are an investment, but protecting the quality of the coffee is worth it.
Our goal is to maintain the character and freshness of the green coffee throughout the year so that when it reaches our production roaster, it is ready to perform as intended.
Freshness isn't something we think about only when the coffee is packaged. It is something we uphold throughout the entire process.
