Halloween Coffee Drink Recipes

As we approach the end of October we are getting in the spirit of the Halloween holiday. Our seasonal Pumpkin Spice was a smash hit that fit right in with the cooler weather, and our year- round Blend X aka “Witches Brew” is the perfect blend for those seeking the dark and esoteric. But what if you want something a bit more spooky and fun? We’ve come up with some seasonal treats (and maybe a trick or two) to share with our customers.

Pumpkin Foam Cold Brew

- ½ cup milk of choice (we prefer heavy cream or half & half, but dairy-free milks work too!)
- 1 Tbsp maple syrup
- 2 Tbsp pumpkin puree
- ½ tsp pumpkin pie spice (or a dash each of cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg & ginger)

Combine all ingredients together in a bowl and froth together. You can do it by hand with a whisk or get some help from a hand mixer, electric frother, blender or even a French press. By plunging the French press up and down, you can incorporate air to make a foam.

Add to the top of your favorite cold brew; ours is Sweet Love Blend.

Ghoulish Green Latte

- ¼ cup chilled double strength coffee (Witches Brew is recommended to really get into the Halloween spirit)
- ¼ cup milk
- 1 tsp matcha powder
- 2 tbsp simple syrup
- 2 tbsp hot water
- Ice

Combine matcha powder, simple syrup and hot water and whisk until there are no dry lumps. Add to the bottom of a cup and top with ice. Slowly pour milk over the top of the matcha and ice to create a distinct layer. Pour chilled coffee over top!

Caramel Apple Coffee

- 1 Tbsp apple butter
- 1 Tbsp caramel (see recipe below for my easy 1 ingredient recipe)
- 8 oz hot coffee

Whenever a recipe calls for caramel, I make this unbelievably simple 1-ingredient dulce de leche. Simply remove the label from a standard size can of sweetened condensed milk (14 oz). Lay it on its side, unopened, in a crock pot and add hot tap water until the water level is about 1-2 inches above the can. Turn the crockpot on low for 8 hours. You want to make sure the water level never drops below the height of the can, so just check it periodically and add water if you need to. After 8 hours, carefully remove the can and COOL COMPLETELY before opening.

Now, back to the recipe… Add apple butter and caramel to the bottom of a mug. Pour in ¼ cup of hot coffee and stir until smooth. Add the rest of your hot coffee. You can garnish with whipped cream and/or cinnamon for an extra special touch.
